Update: Lenexa police locate mother after child is found

LENEXA, Ks. (KCTV) - UPDATE: According to a source with the police department, the child’s mother has been located.

The girl is in state social services custody.

Police are taking with the mother via phone and haven’t determined yet whether this is a criminal matter.

The police have told KCTV5 News that she was at work when the child was found, so the police are working to sort out who was babysitting and such.

Lenexa Police have a found a child wandering around an apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.

According to the police department, the child was found in the 9800 block of Rosehill Road around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning by citizens. They attempted to locate her parents, but could not find them. Police were notified around 11:30 a.m. and took custody of the child.

Police are currently trying to located the child’s parent or guardian.
