3 found dead outside northland home, neighbors say they are in shock
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Residents in a quiet Northland neighborhood are stunned and left with many unanswered questions after three people were found dead in the backyard of a home, Tuesday night.
Neighbors said a man rented the home on NW 83rd Terrace and Waukomis Drive about 6 months ago, now they’re trying to wrap their head around how something like this could happen.
“It’s very sad, and very kind of disturbing,” said one neighbor.
“You’re just kind of shocked,” said another.
It was around 10 o’clock Tuesday night, neighbors noticed flashing lights and police outside their homes. Tamara Zeigler has lived in The Coves subdivision for 13 years. She said she looked out her window and was worried after seeing six police cars lining the street.
“I came out and asked if there is anything we should be concerned about, I saw them put police tape up and he said no, there were investigating a body found, that there were no concern to any neighbors,” said Zeigler.
Police said a woman came to the home looking for her fiancé. When there was no answer at the door, she broke into the basement and found a dead body on the back porch.
When officers got to the scene, they said they found two other dead bodies in the back yard.
“Sad obviously, I didn’t know them, I didn’t know if all three of those people lived there,” said Zeigler.
Police said there were no obvious signs of foul play near or around the crime scene.
Meanwhile, neighbors we spoke with said they never noticed any strange or suspicious activity happening at the home or in the neighborhood.
“Nothing like this has ever happened before, I’m wracking my brain trying to think about any scandals going on,” said Jane Scheckel, who lives nearby.
“Never anything unusual about that house,” said Zeigler.
The investigation into these deaths is ongoing. Police said they are working on getting a search warrant for the house.
Police are still waiting on victim ID’s.
