KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Chiefs are busy getting ready for the team’s ninth straight postseason, eyeing a sixth consecutive AFC Championship game.

But there are also questions about the long-term future of the team’s core.

Head coach Andy Reid and tight end Travis Kelce both started their Kansas City careers back in 2013. Now 11 seasons later, how much longer will Chiefs fans see two of the sport’s all-time greats on the Kansas City sideline?

“I have no reason to stop playing football. I love it,” Kelce said on Thursday. “We still have success. Come in with the right mindset. I love the challenge it gives me every day to try and be at my best. I have no desire to stop anytime soon.”

“I haven’t even thought about that,” Reid said on Thursday. “I figured that would come up, ‘cause I’m old. But not that old.”

This comes after the news of Pete Carroll, Bill Nick Saban all moving on from their respective head coaching jobs.

Andy Reid, who will turn 66 years old in March, is now the oldest head coach in the NFL.

Travis Kelce, who turned 34 years old this past October, still turned in the second-most receiving yards and 3rd most receptions of any tight end in the NFL, despite missing two games.

On Saturday, Reid is set to coach in his 20th playoff game as Chiefs head coach — 19 with Kelce.

In the postseason, Kelce has 133 receptions, 1,547 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns, all NFL records at the tight end position.

The Chiefs host the Miami Dolphins on Saturday at 7 p.m. with the return of former Chief Tyreek Hill.

KCTV5 will have Live in-depth pregame coverage on Saturday from 6-7 p.m., along with live postgame reaction after the game.
