Chiefs fans and businesses react to Peacock exclusive game

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Chiefs fans packed into bars around Wichita to watch the AFC Wildcard game. The game streaming exclusively on Peacock could not be seen on regular television.
“It makes it tough; it’s freezing cold out and people got to pack in here to watch the game,” said Chiefs fan Michael Staats.
Michael Staats watched the game with friends at Emerson Biggins but thinks streaming exclusively on Peacock made it hard on fans.
“I think the regular way is the way to go, I mean at the same time I like being at the bar with a lot of people, but you know I think it does make it tough for people to get a spot,” said Staats.
The exclusivity changing plans not just for fans but for businesses too.
“We did have to go through our IT department and they kind of did all of the back work and figuring out what exactly we need to have this many TVs with Peacock streaming on it,” said Chicken N Pickle Regional General Manager Kelsey Rockett, “paid a pretty penny for it but it’s going to be a lot of fun so that’s all that matters.”
At Chicken N Pickle it’s something that took a lot of work, but Rockett hopes the crowd will create a great game day atmosphere.
“A lot of people would prefer to be at the game, but I think we all know how cold it’s going to be,” said Rockett, “so hopefully we can be a warm spot for them to still get that really energetic environment with a lot of people around having a great time.”
