BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (KCTV) - Family and friends of a Blue Springs man are mourning the life of a young man who died in Utah over the weekend.

On Jan. 27, Jonathan Fielding fell to his death after losing his balance while trying to take a picture near the edge of a cliff.

Fielding’s friend, Connor Parry, said he moved to Utah in the spring of 2023. Fielding loved nature and looking at the world through a lens.

“He was big into photography, and that’s what he was doing when he had his accident,” Parry said.

Parry said he’s still in shock, saying Fielding had a huge impact on his life and those around him.

“I was crushed; I couldn’t believe it,” Parry said. “He was 19 years old and was just excited to take on the world. He was always looking for ways to improve himself, always looking for ways to help other people. He would tell everyone that he did everything for his sisters, for his family, and that drove him to be successful.”

Parry believes his legacy will live on and hopes people will live like he did.

“He had a smile and a laugh that would just make you feel good about yourself. He was someone that was generally interested in what you were doing,” Parry said. “He would the conversations that he had with you in the past, and he would ask you about those in the future.”

There is a GoFundMe if you’d like to help the family with funeral arrangements.
