KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Chiefs Kingdom is heading to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII, and to keep up with demand KCI Airport doubled the amount of flights that normally leave Kansas City for Sin City.

Among the fans departing Thursday was Chiefs Hall of Famer Bobby Bell. He was a defensive lineman for the Chiefs between 1963 and 1974, and helped the Chiefs reach multiple Super Bowl games.

“This year the defense is unbelievable, you know, they kept us in the game a lot,” Bell said. “Chris Jones, I like watching Chris Jones. I like to watch the whole team. I love the defense.”

Bell makes it a point to go to every Super Bowl, and even puts the Super Bowl numbers on his travel jacket. He’s just as surprised as everyone else is by how much a ticket cost nowadays.

“In the fourth Super Bowl was only $15, who could pay $15 for a ticket anymore?” Bell said. “You can’t get a cab ride for that.”

Many of the fans KCTV 5 spoke with are planning to watch the game on the Vegas strip at the many watch parties that will be taking place on Sunday.

KCI Airport also plans to add additional flights on Friday for the growing demand to be in Las Vegas during the Super Bowl. Multiple airlines will offer 15 total flights on Friday. Normally there are around 5 flights that leave for Vegas on a daily basis.
