WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Wichita’s own Blake Bell is seeking his third Super Bowl ring with Kansas City. The Bishop Carroll grad says it’s been a dream come true.

Ahead of the Big Game, 12 News Sports reporter Brandon Zenner caught up with the quarterback-turned-pro tight end.

Zenner: Here with Wichita’s own Blake Bell: You’re now preparing to play in another Super Bowl. If you thought back to 2015, would you ever think that you’d come this far, playing all these games?

Bell: No way man. I still think about playing the quarterback days and even switching over to tight end. I didn’t think I’d be here playing tight end but I’m so glad I made that transition and just going on to that third Super Bowl. Grateful to be here. We got an extra week last week and then a whole week this week to prepare as well and get ready for Sunday.

Zenner: Going through everything that you went through last year and all the trials and tribulations as a team this year, how special has this season been for you?

Bell: Very special. Getting back from my hip surgery, that was a rough time but we made it back. And this year we’ve had a lot of ups and downs but it’s kind of a testament to the guys just kind of sticking through it and preparing each and every week and getting better. And here we are.

Zenner: How much have you been hearing from people back home over the last week and a half and what’s that all these years just meant for you, from Bishop Carroll and beyond?

Bell: It’s the greatest. I just talked to (former Bishop Carroll High School Football) Coach (Alan) Schuckman the other day. They’re having another “Chiefs Blake Bell Day” at Bishop Carroll and when you hear that, it’s special. You hear that that’s where I grew up in Wichita, from St. Francis (of Assisi Catholic School) to Bishop Carroll, to see all the love and there; got the whole family coming out this week. It’s exciting times.
