I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.
Did you lose a phone in the panic at today’s rally? I found an Android. Home screen shows several Snapchat chat requests. I’ll bring it to KD Center Zone at the end of my shift.
NEW: A KCTV5 viewer shared a video from the corner of Pershing and Kessler. In it, you can hear shots ring out and parade attendees go running on Wednesday afternoon.https://t.co/oXSTzCqpCYpic.twitter.com/l1mJSWhnwl
Praying for all those involved in KC at this moment! It is senseless and disgusting! Sending the most of Love to all the kids that were impacted today. ❤️
We are heartbroken by the senseless and tragic violence that took place today. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and the Kansas City community. 💙 https://t.co/NOjjRFlUXM
This 🤬 is SAD man! Kids are being shot and somebody didn’t come home tonight. We cannot allow this to be normal. We cannot ourselves to become numb and chalk it up to “just another shooting in America” and reduce people in statistics and then move on tmrw.
Any chance anyone can help me get in touch with these kids or families? First off I want to make sure they’re doing ok. But would love to help them out any way I can and get them some stuff from the team to help with the recovery. https://t.co/xlTJXLi7xT
New update from police any minute
We now know at least 8 children have been shot but 11 children in total are being treated at children’s mercy.
There are also being treated at university hospital.
8 have gunshots. 2 critical.
4 other non-gunshot injuries.@KCTV5https://t.co/t1rb7nZEWZ
To be clear, when I say 8 kids, that means 8 juveniles, under age 18. Exact ages unknown. Also, typo on critical at University Health. It is 2 critical, not 3. - @KCTV5https://t.co/ejlauRVhhm
Prayers for those affected at today’s parade. A time of celebration ends in tragedy. When are we going to fix these gun laws ? How many more people have to die to say enough is enough ? It’s too easy for the wrong people to obtain guns in America and that’s a FACT.
"This isn't Kansas City. I don't want the actions of a few to speak for our hometown. We are the heartland. We wear our hearts on our sleeves, our t-shirts, I really want people to know that this does not define us."@KCTV5 continues to bring you breaking news updates/reaction. pic.twitter.com/Z4lsEvl7Rd
The Chiefs left the parade in busses, and in shock. I'm told players were UNBELIEVABLE calming panicked kids down. Blaine Gabbert, Tre Smith, Austin Reiter, Chris Oladukun all rallied.
Smith went to one upset kid, gave him the WWE title belt and sat with him til he calmed down.
