Police: 1 dead, 22 wounded in shooting at Union Station after Chiefs parade, 3 in custody
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police said one person died and 22 people suffered gunshot wounds in a shooting Wednesday afternoon just after the Chiefs parade and rally ended at Union Station.
Children’s Mercy Hospital confirmed it was treating 12 patients, 11 of whom were children. Hospital officials said all of the children are expected to recover, and none of their injuries were critical. Their ages ranged from 6 to 15. The hospital stated that nine of those patients have gunshot wounds.
University Health Truman Medical Center officials said it was treating eight gunshot victims, two of whom are in critical condition. Four other people were treated for non-gunshot injuries.
The Kansas City Police Department stated that three armed people were taken into custody for more investigation.
The Kansas City Police Department has established a tip line dedicated to obtaining information regarding the shooting: 816-413-3477. Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has video has been asked to investigators.

“I’m angry at what happened today. The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment,” police chief Stacey Graves said.
St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City received one gunshot patient in critical condition and three walk-in patients with injuries that were not life-threatening, spokesperson Laurel Gifford said.
The scene was declared clear and safe, as of 5:30 p.m.
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas shared a statement expressing his sadness surrounding the situation.
