Police: Two teens in custody, third initially detained has been released in Union Station shooting
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City officials continue to release details they have learned surrounding a shooting Wednesday afternoon that left one woman dead and dozens injured.
Police chief Stacey Graves said that there were a total of 23 victims wounded in the shooting, one of whom died from their injuries.
Graves revealed that “at least half of the victims” were under the age of 16.
The police chief said the shooting appeared to be the result of an argument between two groups of people. She said of the three people detained Wednesday afternoon, two were juveniles.
At 2:45 p.m., police stated that the third person was determined to be not involved and was released. The two teens remained in custody.

The Kansas City Police Department has established a tip line dedicated to obtaining information regarding the shooting: 816-413-3477. Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has video has been asked to investigators.
The FBI has also established a webpage for people who would like to submit photos or videos here.
As of 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, police did not believe there was a connection to terrorism or homegrown extremism.

Just moments after the Chiefs parade and rally concluded at Union Station, shots rang out west of the stage area. Hundreds of people scattered quickly and first responders immediately tended to multiple gunshot victims.
Police asked the public to avoid the area, and Union Station was closed off to the public.
Eleven victims were taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital, aged 6-15, nine of whom suffered gunshot wounds. All of the victims are expected to recover. Three of the children remained hospitalized in inpatient care, and the rest have been released.

At University Health Truman Medical Center, eight gunshot victims were treated, and two of those remained in critical condition as of Thursday morning. Another patient remained in the hospital with lesser injuries. The five other victims had been discharged.
The hospital had also treated four others who were not shot, and three of those patients were discharged, as of Thursday morning.
St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City received one gunshot patient in critical condition and three walk-in patients with injuries that were not life-threatening, spokesperson Laurel Gifford said.
The Greater KC Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any information leading to an arrest(s) in connection with the shooting. The phone number is 816 474-TIPS, and callers may remain 100% anonymous.
Graves said anyone who was missing belongings due to the shooting at Union Station has been asked to call 311 for instructions on how to retrieve those.
