Britt Reid Ariel Young.
The former coach pleaded guilty in September 2022 to driving while intoxicated causing bodily injury.
Reid will be under house arrest until Oct. 31, 2025. He will have strict conditions of probation, including weekly meetings with a parole officer, weekly behavioral counseling attendance, weekly meetings with a peer sponsor, and stringent community service and employment requirements, the governor’s office stated.
Five family were injured in the crash. Ariel received the most attention because her injuries were so extensive.

Felicia Miller, Ariel’s mother, said before Britt Reid took a plea deal a year and a half ago, he should have faced the maximum sentence.
He had faced up to four years in prison as part of a plea deal.
The girl’s mother said that Ariel didn’t wake up for two weeks after the crash and had to learn how to walk, talk and eat. She cried in her wheelchair, so her mother would carry her 5-year-old around like a newborn, Miller said.
