KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Missouri Supreme Court has denied a transfer request in the case of former KD detective Eric DeValkenaere.

He was convicted of second-degree manslaughter and armed criminal action in the 2019 killing of Cameron Lamb and sentenced to six years in prison.

“It is not unexpected that the Missouri Supreme Court has rendered a decision to deny transfer of the DeValkenaere decision for their review,” Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said in a statement. “We’re grateful for the full judicial process that’s been given this case.”

Missouri’s highest court denied DeValkenaere’s request more than three months after denying a motion to rehear the case.

DeValenaere’s legal team previously filed a petition for clemency with Governor Mike Parson’s office. Parson called the clemency issue one of the toughest issues on his desk and said there is no timetable.

Cameron Lamb’s parents have drafted their own letter to the governor as well asking him to not pardon DeValkenaere for their son’s killing.

In that letter, they describe Lamb as a loving father and son.

Aquil Bey, Lamb’s stepfather, released the following statement to KCTV5 in light of the recent sentence commutation for Britt Reid.

“The fact is known that he was found guilty, convicted, sentenced and started serving time — if they want to be that corrupt and that obvious about the corruption that’s involved with themselves as far as a pardon, that’s on them. They still have a debt to pay. It may not be to me, but I guarantee you, you reap what you sow.”
