LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - Bill Self’s mission to replenish his roster continued Thursday as the Jayhawks added Wisconsin transfer AJ Storr.

Storr, who averaged 16.8 points per game as a sophomore, chose the Jayhawks over Arkansas, Illinois and Texas.

“With great excitement and humility, I announce my commitment to the University of Kansas basketball program,” Storr wrote on Twitter. “ing the Jayhawks is a dream realized, and I’m incredibly honored for this opportunity to be a part of the tradition and culture of Kansas Basketball.”

Storr began his career at St. John’s in 2022-23 and transferred to Wisconsin following a coaching change there.

“AJ is a great athlete, and one of the top wing players in the portal,” Self said in a release from KU on Thursday. “He pulled his name out of the draft and we are happy he chose to come to Kansas. We feel AJ will fit in well with our style of play. He comes from a winning program at Wisconsin.”

The 6-foot-8 forward provides Kansas with a potential replacement to Kevin McCullar after the graduate senior heads to the NBA.

Storr also averaged 3.9 rebounds while starting 36 games for the Badgers last season. He s Florida transfer Riley Kugel and South Dakota State transfer Zeke Mayo as transfer portal adds for the Jayhawks heading into next season.

Earlier this week, KU freshman guard Johnny Furphy declared for the NBA Draft. The Jayhawks could still return All-American big man Hunter Dickinson to a team that should slot in as one of the preseason favorite for the national championship in 2025.

Storr is the third-ranked player in the transfer portal by 24/7 Sports. According to those rankings, Mayo is the 16th-best player available and Kugel is 80th.
