KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - There are two Kansas City suburbs on the list of the fastest-growing cities in the country. They probably aren’t the ones you’d expect.

The U.S. Census Bureau released new population estimates from cities with populations of at least 20,000 people. The data showed that Gardner is the fastest-growing city in the metro. The census bureau said Gardner grew just under 5% in the latest tally.

Raymore, Mo. is the second fastest-growing city in the metro. It added 4.7% during the year that ended July 1, 2023.

Both cities are in the top 70 when it comes to the fastest growing communities in the country, by percentage.

The data also shows the two cities each ed a population of greater than 25,000 for the first time.

A number of metro cities also found themselves on the other end of the spectrum.
