KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A third explosion has been set to bring the rest of Kansas City’s old Buck O’Neil Bridge down.

The Buck O’Neil Bridge on Tuesday, June 18.

Transportation officials noted that due to public safety, the event will be closed to the public. However, drivers may be plagued with intermittent closures on northbound U.S. 169 from 5th St. to Richards Rd.

A previous explosion brought down another span of the bridge around 12:30 p.m. on April 2. Drivers in the same area saw similar traffic delays.

Construction to replace the bridge began in 2021 with the new bridge expected to be completed in Dec. 2024. Drivers continue to cross the Missouri River on a newly constructed river bridge.

The department has promised more details are yet to come as time ranges are finalized. For more information, click HERE.
