Kansas City Chiefs DT Isaiah Buggs arrested 2nd time in 3 weeks

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (KCTV/WBRC) - A backup defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs found himself behind bars for the second time in three weeks.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office records show officers arrested Isiah Buggs in Tuscaloosa Sunday.

WBRC in Tuscaloosa reports an officer responded to a 911 call at 5:28 a.m. CT. Records show the officer arrested Buggs at the scene on suspicion of second-degree domestic violence and second-degree assault.

He was transported to Tuscaloosa County Jail where he will be held on a 12-hour domestic violence hold and a $5,000 bond, according to WBRC in Tuscaloosa.

Buggs was previously booked on charges of animal cruelty in May after two malnourished dogs were found at a rental place in Tuscaloosa. One of the animals had to be euthanized.

Buggs turned himself in to the Tuscaloosa police before bonding out a short time later.

Investigators say Buggs was behind over $3,100 in rent on the home and was served a notice of termination on the lease in April according to court records.

WBRC reports Buggs denied the allegations, saying the dogs did not belong to him and that he was unaware they were in the house.

The 27-year-old’s agent, Trey Robinson of AthElite Agency, hasn’t released a statement about the latest accusations, but he did release a statement about the animal cruelty charges against his client in May:

Buggs played for Alabama before he was drafted in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He has played 56 games and totaled 89 career tackles while playing three seasons in Pittsburgh and two seasons in Detroit.

Buggs signed a reserve/futures contract with the Chiefs on Feb. 13, 2024, after g on the Chiefs practice squad on Jan. 4, 2024.
