Kansas AG Kris Kobach suing Pfizer for ‘misleading Kansans on COVID vaccine’

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach announced that he’s suing Pfizer “for misleading claims it made related to the COVID vaccine.” Kobach made the announcement Monday during a press conference in Topeka.
“Pfizer made multiple misleading statements to deceive the public about its vaccine at a time when Americans needed the truth,” Kobach said.
The complaint, filed Monday in Thomas County District Court, accuses the company of misleading Kansans about the vaccine’s risks, “including to pregnant women and for myocarditis.”
“Additionally Pfizer claimed its vaccine protected against COVID variants, despite data showing otherwise. The pharmaceutical giant also suggested its vaccine prevented COVID transmission, but later itted it had never studied whether its vaccine stopped transmission,” Kobach’s office said in a news release that followed Monday’s press conference.
The complain also accuses Pfizer of being part of a coordinated effort to censor speech critical of COVID-19 vaccines and declining to participate in Operation Warp Speed, “to avoid government oversight.”
In November, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton took similar action against Pfizer, filing a lawsuit in which he accused the drugmaker of misrepresenting the efficacy of its widely used vaccine.
Pfizer responded to Paxton’s lawsuit, defending its representations about the vaccine and its effectiveness. The company didn’t believe the Texas AG’s lawsuit had merit.
