Pair of Royals land in second place in first All-Star voting update

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A pair of Kansas City Royals found themselves in second place during MLB’s first glimpse at All-Star Game voting for this summer’s mid-summer classic.
Royals catcher Salvador Perez and shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. are just outside of the first place -- and starting -- spot on the American League All-Star team.
According to MLB’s voting data, Perez’s 588,952 votes as of Monday have him trailing Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman, who has over 792,000 votes.

Witt Jr., who’s been one of the best players in all of baseball through the season’s first two-and-a-half months, is also in second place and also trailing a member of the Baltimore Orioles. The 24-year-old shortstop is just under 200,000 votes behind Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson.
According to MLB, Henderson had 740,436 votes and Witt Jr. had 541,261 as of Monday.
