Flash flood warning issued for Kansas City area Monday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City metro is under a flash flood warning through Monday afternoon.
The National Weather Service issued the warning for Wyandotte County, Johnson County, Jackson County, and Cass County until 1:45 p.m.
The weather service said law enforcement reported multiple roads are imable in Lenexa area, and water rescues have been reported in Leawood, Grandview, and Lee’s Summit.

Between 1.5 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen across the metro. The National Weather Service predicts an additional inch of train is possible this afternoon.

The weather service predicts life threatening flash flooding with the coming storm.

The flash flood warning includes Interstate 635, Interstate 35, and Interstate 435 in the Kansas City metro. Interstate 70 and Interstate 470 are also included in the warning.
Emergency responders warn drivers should avoid driving through high water.
