Bonner Springs approves request from Mattel Adventure Park developers
BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. (KCTV) - Mattel Adventure Park takes a step closer to reality in Bonner Springs.
of the city’s Planning Commission unanimously approved an amendment to change the city’s long-term land use plan for a property west of Kansas Speedway.
The decision means the property will be zoned for mixed-use development, instead of industrial development.
The request came from Epic Resort Destinations, a developer involved in the Mattel Adventure Park.

The city said the developer is still required to submit an official rezoning request.
The approval by the Planning Commission will be presented to the city council during a meeting on August 12. If the council approves the request the zoning for the property will be changed to mix-use.
The rezoning is required before Epic Resort Destinations could move forward with plans for the Mattel-themed park.
Bonner Springs City Council already approved using STAR bonds for entertainment district.

Developers hope to open the park in 2026. Plans include mini-golf, a Hot Wheels roller coaster, and a Barbie Beach House.
