KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A summer party at Kansas City’s Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art will go on as scheduled, despite damage to the lawn.

A spokesperson for the museum said it plans to host “Kansas City’s Lawn Party” on Sunday. The celebration will take place even though part of the lawn needs to be replaced.

The museum’s south lawn and sidewalk was damaged during the Super Bowl ring ceremony for the Kansas City Chiefs. The organization held the exclusive party at the landmark on June 13.

Following the ceremony pictures showed a damaged sidewalk as well as damage to the museum’s picturesque lawn.

A spokesperson for the museum said the Chiefs organization is aware of the damage and is working with the museum on the repairs. The sidewalk is expected to be repaired sooner than the lawn because the heat is not a good time to reseed. The repairs to the lawn are not expected to happen until sometime this fall.

The damage will not impact Sunday’s lawn party, according to the Nelson-Atkins Museum. Organizers plan to have art activities, food trucks, music and games in place for the community.

The party will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
