SHAWNEE, Kan. (KCTV) - A man was taken to the hospital on Saturday after he was struck by lightning.

According to Johnson County MED-ACT, the incident happened around 3:15 p.m. on July 27 in the 7200 block of McCormick Drive. Shawnee police and fire responded to the scene as well.

Reportedly, as thunderstorms moved through the metro on Saturday, a 42-year-old man was struck by lightning. He sustained minor burns and was taken to an area hospital in serious but stable condition.

Johnson County MED-ACT reminds anyone tempted to go outside while lightning is visible that “if you see a flash, make a dash.”
