Witnesses block in hit-and-run suspect who injured cyclist until police arrive

The Independence Police Department reported a hit-and-run crash on Saturday that left a pedestrian seriously injured.

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - The Independence Police Department reported a hit-and-run crash on Saturday that left a pedestrian seriously injured.

The crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. on July 27 near Noland Road and Noland Court.

According to IPD, the driver of a Ford Edge was pulling out of a private drive when it hit a bicyclist. The Ford did not stop and continued driving north on Noland Road.

Several witnesses reportedly saw the crash happen and followed the Ford, blocking it in and calling 911 until police arrived and arrested the driver.

The cyclist was taken to an area hospital and remains in critical condition.

Independence police said the case remains under investigation. The identity of the victim and suspect has not been released.
