Child dies after falling from eighth-floor apartment window in Independence
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - First responders confirmed to KCTV5 that a child who fell from an apartment building on Monday morning has died from his injuries.
The Independence Police Department stated the incident took place at the Independence Towers Apartments in the 700 block of North Jennings Road about 10 a.m.
Fire officials detailed that the toddler had fallen from an apartment window on the eighth floor, suffering critical injuries. Fire officials stated the child essentially fell nine stories.
The boy had sustained broken bones, head trauma and had internal bleeding, and officials said at 3 p.m. that the child had died.
Police told KCTV5 the child was either 2 or 3 years old.
