Independence family’s home becomes set for new Hallmark Chiefs movie: ‘It felt so joyful’
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - One Independence family had the chance of a lifetime in July when crews were filming the new Hallmark Chiefs movie.
“Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.”
From July 7 to July 10, the Judy home turned into a Hollywood movie set.
“We do look like our own little Hallmark movie on our block,” said Angie Judy, whose house was used for the new Hallmark Chiefs film.
Located just two blocks from Independence Square, this home built in 1923 caught Angie’s eye while dog-sitting for a friend 12 years ago.
“The sunset would always be so beautiful right behind this house,” said Angie.
It wasn’t on the market at the time, but soon she learned the owners were looking to sell.
“I need to get in there right now I need to get in that house right now,” said Angie. She added, “A lot of people had offered, and when I walked in she said I know you’ll take great care of my home, and she sold it to me right there.”
And that she did. Angie invited the woman back to their house when they were on the Holly and Mistletoe Homes Tour and she was brought to tears.
“She’d be beaming down now to know that her House was in a Hallmark movie,” said Angie.

Angie shares the home with her husband, Matthew Judy, and 7-year-old son, Jack Judy.
It holds character both inside and out.
Angie has filled the home with antiques, family photos, decor and, of course, plenty of Chiefs and Taylor Swift pride.
Her connections helped get their neighborhood and home to be a part of the film.
“The actors came in the first day and they were like ‘Oh my gosh your home is so lovely and it is so cozy,’” Angie said. “The words that they were using were cute because that’s how we feel in our home.”
For four days, their home was filled with actors, producers, and the rest of the crew.
“All of our furniture everything was in the back they even took out that light fixture. I mean they had to move those are my grandparent’s antique tables,” said Angie.
Quickly becoming “lights, camera, action” in the Judy Home, it’s been a memorable summer for Jack.
“I had to eat outside and our kitchen was blocked with the TV and stuff,” said Jack.
He told his friends at camp he slept in a restaurant, but that was actually just The Inn at Ophelia’s, a bed and breakfast.
There were some surreal moments for dad, Matthew, too.
“My husband walks in with his backpack on and he’s like, ‘Can I go in the back to finish working?’ And I was like, ‘Oh yeah, go ahead. Go in there and see what is going on,”' said Angie.
“All these actors come in, then Ed Begley Jr. who I’ve seen on TV for many years came in and was like, ‘Where is your bathroom?’ I was like ‘Ok, it is back there,’” said Matthew.
Angie said their living room looks nothing like the nostalgic scenes shot there, but you might catch some pieces of their home in the film.
“It was really cool. On the mantle, they used an old picture of my great grandma,” said Angie.
They also got to be extras in the film.
“Who knows if you will even see us at all! Like there are so many people and so many things,” said Angie.
Jack heard some words of wisdom from the one and only, Donna Kelce.
“She told me ‘dream big,’” said Jack.

Angie said she’s proud to show off her hometown to the world and is excited to see how the Judy home will live on in the movies.
As an extra gift, the Judy family got to keep some of the coats, clothes and furniture from the set. They donated the clothes to Tabitha’s Closet for local schools and the furniture went to the Truman ReStore.
“Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” is set to air the week before Thanksgiving.
