What to know ahead of Chiefs’ season-opener
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs open their 2024 season attempting to three-peat for the first time in NFL history on Thursday night.
On Monday, the organization shared guidance for fans heading to Arrowhead Stadium on pregame festivities.
Parking lots and traffic
Arrowhead Stadium parking lots will open almost five hours before Thursday night’s opening kickoff. The Chiefs said they’ll open the gates to the parking lot at 2:30 p.m.

Fans should expect delays in the area of Interstate 435 and Interstate 70 as they approach Arrowhead Stadium.
How to watch & listen
If you aren’t heading to Arrowhead, the game can be watched on NBC or listened to on KFNZ 96.5 The Fan. The NBC broadcast features the Sunday Night Football broadcast crew of Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth and Melissa Stark. The local radio broadcast features Mitch Holthus,
Stadium Gates and Mobile Entry
Gates open for fans to get inside Arrowhead Stadium at 5 p.m. ahead of the 7:20 p.m. kickoff.
All active and retired military personnel, federal employees, and GEHA will have their own priority entry lane at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
- Location: Exclusively at the GEHA Gate on the south side of the stadium.
- Timing: The lane opens 90 minutes before kickoff and closes 30 minutes prior.
- Entry requirements: Show military ID, veterans ID, federal employee badge, or GEHA member ID.
Drum Honoree
The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing comedian and actor Rob Riggle to serve as the Drum Honoree. He’ll do that after hosting the organization’s “World’s Largest Tailgate,” which will be held Thursday at 5 p.m.
