Motorcycle crash on I-435 near Blue Parkway kills 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - One person is dead following a motorcycle crash on I-435 on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened on I-435 near Blue Parkway just before 5 p.m.

The Kansas City Missouri Police Department said a preliminary investigation revealed a yellow Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading northbound on I-435 when the operator failed to negotiate the curve.

KD said the Harley went off the road to the left and traveled down the grassy median separating the northbound lanes of I-435 from the southbound lanes. The bike struck the inside portion of the southbound I-435 guardrail, ejecting the motorcyclist from the vehicle.

The operator, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. Debris from the motorcycle hit a red Toyota Camry and red Subaru BRZ that were both heading south on I-435. Both drivers of those vehicles were uninjured.

Multiple lanes of the highway were closed for several hours Tuesday evening. The motorcyclist’s death is the 68th of the year in Kansas City, Missouri.
