KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A new ruling from the Missouri Federal Court this morning said former Kansas City Police Detective Eric DeValkenaere is guilty, again, this time in a civil judgment for the family of the man he killed.

DeValkenaere was convicted of second-degree manslaughter and armed criminal action in the 2019 killing of Cameron Lamb.

Wednesday’s ruling answers a civil lawsuit filed by Lamb’s family arguing DeValkenaere illegally violated Cameron Lamb’s 4th Amendment rights by entering his property without a warrant when he shot and killed him.

Lamb’s family also asked to seek damages for excessive force but the court denied that citing conflicting evidence about whether Lamb was armed at the time he was shot.

DeValkenaere is currently serving a six-year prison sentence for Lamb’s death.
