Chiefs Rashee Rice to have MRI on knee Monday after being carted off field

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs managed to leave southern California with a win, but there was a cost.
The Chiefs are now 4-0 after beating the Chargers 17-10 in Week 4.
Kansas City earned the win without wide receiver Rashee Rice who suffered a knee injury in the first quarter.
Rice was carted off the field after quarterback Patrick Mahomes hit his right knee. It happened as both players ran after Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton after Mahomes threw an interception.
Both of Rice’s knees took an impact in his collision with Mahomes, and the receiver’s right knee appeared to hyperextend.
Rice went directly into the x-ray room, according to CBS Sports.

He was later ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Tracy Wolfson, of CBS Sports, asked Chiefs head coach Andy Reid about the severity of Rice’s injury.
“It’s not good,” Reid said.
After the game Reid said Rice will have an MRI Monday.
“It’s his knee. We’ll have to wait and see but there’s not as good of news as we want. We’ll see how it goes,” Reid said.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter quoted a source after the game who said Rice may have torn his ACL.

In a postgame interview Mahomes said if he hadn’t turned the ball over on the play, Rice’s injury would have never happened.
“I didn’t know exactly what happened because I was obviously trying to make the tackle but I know Rashee and how tough he is, so him being down like that, I knew it wasn’t good. All we do is pray that the x-rays aren’t as bad as it looked,” Mahomes said.
Rice is the defending Super Bowl champions’ leading receiver with 24 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns, ranking third in the NFL in receptions entering Week 4. No other Chiefs receiver has more than nine catches this season.
