KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - School s at The Academie Lafayette evacuated their Oak Campus briefly today near the Oak Meyer Gardens neighborhood due to a gas leak.

A construction crew struck a 2-inch gas line just after 10 a.m. leading to the evacuations - Oak campus sits near East 69th Terrace and Oak Street.

The Kansas City Fire Department reported that no readings for elevated gas levels were found within the school. The decision to evacuate the school was made out of precaution, s said.

Spire Gas arrived at the scene to repair the ruptured line.

Due to an 8 mph wind out of the south, multiple calls to the north were received for the strong gas odor.

No injuries have been reported.

KCFD will remain on the scene until the flow of natural gas has stopped.
