WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Kansas Corporation Commission approved a settlement agreement on Thursday that will increase the monthly cost for residential s of Kansas Gas Service.

Under the settlement, a $58.1 million net revenue increase originally requested by KGS was reduced to $35 million. Customers with average usage will see a bill increase of approximately $3.83 per month or $46.02 per year.

The new rates will take effect on Nov. 1.

In testimony filed in of the settlement approved Thursday, KCC staff stated that the agreed upon revenue increase strikes the proper balance between KGS’ desire for reasonable assurances that it will meet its financial obligations and the need to keep rates as low as possible for customers.
