Buc-ee’s plan for KCK expansion moves on to next stage
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - The plan to bring a Buc-ee’s to Kansas City, Kansas, is moving closer to completion.
Monday night, the Wyandotte County Planning Commission approved a change in zoning for the proposed site just south of Kansas Speedway and Hollywood Casino.
The plan will move toward the full Unified Government Commission with a recommendation for approval. That discussion will be on the agenda during a meeting Oct. 30.
Buc-ee’s has gained a following because of its one-of-a-kind food, merchandise, and large selection of snacks.

In July, Wyandotte County David Johnston told KCTV5 that county leaders were working with Buc-ee’s to ink a deal. The company also confirmed the possibility of a travel center located in Wyandotte County. Johnston said if all goes to plan a ground-breaking will take place by the end of the year.
The closest Buc-ee’s to the Kansas City area is in Springfield, Missouri. That location opened in December.
