KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans agreed to on a deal early Wednesday morning to bring former All-Pro wide-receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Chiefs Kingdom.

The news was first reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, Hopkins is being traded to the Chiefs for a 5th-rounder that can become a 4th-rounder depending on production.

Hopkins, who began his career in Houston and spent time with the Arizona Cardinals as well, holds some impressive accolades. He’s a five-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro selection.

During the 2023 season, Hopkins recorded 75 catches for 1,057 yards and 7 touchdowns. Through six games with the Titans in 2024, Hopkins has 15 receptions for 173 yards and a touchdown. The Titans opted to trade him following a 1-5 start to the season and injuries to their starting quarterback, Will Levis.

Hopkins previously played for the Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, and Houston Texans.

The Hopkins trade addresses a wide receiver shortage in the Kansas City Chiefs organization. The shortage comes after offseason g Hollywood Brown injured his shoulder on the first snap of the preseason, second-year Chiefs star Rashee Rice suffered a season-ending knee injury in a Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, and veteran wideout Juju Smith-Schuster left Sunday’s win over the San Francisco 49ers with a hamstring injury.

It’s unclear whether -- or how much -- Hopkins will play Sunday when the 6-0 Chiefs travel to play the 2-5 Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. That game will kick off at 3:25 p.m. CT Sunday and can be watched locally on KCTV.
