DERBY, Kan. (KWCH) - Update: A woman is dead after backing into an airplane propeller in Derby Saturday afternoon, Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter confirmed.

According to Derby Fire Marshall Johnathon Marr, a woman in her 30s was taking pictures at the airfield when she accidentally backed up into a moving airplane propeller and suffered extremely critical injuries.

Easter said the woman died due to her injuries.

The incident is currently under investigation as accidental.

One person was found in extremely critical condition after an incident involving an airplane propeller at a Derby skydiving center Saturday afternoon.

Sedgwick County dispatch confirmed the incident happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of S 143rd St. E in Derby, at Air Capital Drop Zone at Cook Airfield.

EMS found an unresponsive patient who was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition.
