Update: Police identify man found shot inside vehicle along busy KC street
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police have released the identity of a man found shot inside his vehicle along a busy Kansas City street.
The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department reported that just before 5:55 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, emergency crews were called to the area of 75th St. and The Paseo, a block south of the Christian Tabernacle Church, with reports of a shooting.
When first responders arrived, they said they were directed toward a vehicle stopped in the southbound lanes of The Paseo. As they approached, they found one man who had suffered gunshot wounds and was unresponsive in the vehicle.
Law enforcement officials said life-saving measures were attempted until EMS arrived to take over. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by medical professionals.
On Saturday, the victim was identified as 66-year-old Dennis R. Griffin.
Investigators indicated that they believed Griffin was inside his vehicle when he was shot by an unknown suspect from outside. Homicide detectives continue to process the scene and canvass for witnesses.
Anyone with information about the shooting should report it to the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. A reward of up to $25,000 is available for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect. No further information has been released.
