Royals’ Witt Jr., Perez, Lugo named to All-MLB teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The standout seasons of Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr., catcher Salvador Perez and pitcher Seth Lugo continue to be rewarded with accomplishments.
Thursday night, the MLB revealed its All-MLB teams in an awards show in Las Vegas.
In it, Witt Jr. was named the All-MLB First Team shortstop and Perez was named the All-MLB Second Team catcher. Lugo was named to the All-MLB Second Team as a pitcher.
Witt Jr. had 32 home runs and 109 RBI in his third MLB season, en route to becoming an AL MVP Finalist. He also won the AL batting title and was given a Silver Slugger and Gold Glove for his outstanding play during the 2024 season. In doing so, he became the second shortstop in MLB history to accomplish all three things, and the first to do them all in the same season.

Perez, in his age 34 season, hit 27 home runs and had 104 RBI while playing in 158 games. That was the second-most games he’d played in a season in his career and was the second 100-RBI season of his career.
Lugo had a MLB best 33 starts and was second in innings and quality starts. He was also third in wins (16) and 10th in ERA (3.00). He also won a Gold Glove for outstanding defense as a pitcher.
