Man wanted on several warrants hides from deputies inside rooftop HVAC unit before arrest
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - “We usually win a game of hide-and-seek.”
Clay County deputies announced the arrest of a 55-year-old man who tried a unique way of avoiding law enforcement following a chase.
Deputies tried to stop a truck with no license plates on Thursday in an industrial area off Missouri Highway 210. A release indicated that the Clay County Sheriff’s Office recognized the driver as Phillip Bouse, who was wanted on multiple warrants, including domestic assault and possession of meth.

The sheriff’s office relayed that Bouse jumped out of his moving truck during the pursuit—causing the vehicle to nearly strike a patrol car—and ran through doorway inside the warehouse.
Employees told law enforcement that the door only had roof access, and so deputies used a drone to find Bouse hiding inside a rooftop HVAC unit.
The sheriff’s office stated that Bouse will also face felony charges for aggravated fleeing from a stop and property damage.

The sheriff’s office said Bouse was booked into the Clay County Detention Center on an $82,000 bond.
