Chillicothe police arrest 9 in connection with multiple child abuse investigations
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. (KCTV) - Multiple child abuse investigations by the Chillicothe Police Department and other state agencies resulted in the recent arrest of nine people, authorities said Wednesday.
Police said the arrests stemmed from thorough investigations into physical and emotional abuse, as well as neglectful treatment of children in various households. The Chillicothe Police Department said individuals arrested will face a variety of charges, including felony child abuse, neglect and endangerment.
Details on the cases remain limited, but police said the arrests demonstrate their commitment to thoroughly investigating crimes against children.
Court records in Livingston County revealed one woman was charged after locking her child out of the home and multiple incidents of physical abuse and neglect.
In another unrelated incident, court records revealed a woman was charged with three felonies for endangering the welfare of a child in a case that involved a juvenile who was treated at Children’s Mercy Hospital after ingesting a substance that included THC, an active ingredient in marijuana.
That case resulted in charges for a man and woman.
Anyone with knowledge of child abuse or neglect is asked to report it immediately to the Chillicothe Police Department or the Missouri Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-392-3738.
