Student charged for taking gun to Shawnee Mission South High School
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - A 15-year-old student faces multiple charges after being accused of bringing a gun to school on Monday.
According to the Overland Park Police Department, Shawnee Mission South High School went into lockdown on Dec. 9 after a student reported seeing a gun in the building.

Law enforcement officials arrested the student in possession of the gun and confiscated the weapon. Once the building was secure, lockdown was lifted.
The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday afternoon that the 15-year-old has been charged with:
- Firearm possession by felon
- Juvenile in possession of a firearm
- Interference with law enforcement officer
The student is set to appear in court Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 1:30 p.m. Being that they are under 18, their identity or any possible criminal history is not public information.
