KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Two men were imprisoned for their alleged role in a 2009 homicide. On Wednesday afternoon, it was announced they would have their freedoms restored, lost more than 15 years ago.
Cedric Warren and Dominic Moore, now 34 and 40 years old, respectively, had their convictions overturned. Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree said he would not retry the cases.
The charges stemmed from a double homicide that took place on Feb. 13, 2009, when two men, Larry LeDoux and Charles Ford, were found shot to death.
Warren and Moore were charged with murder and convicted on the of one witness with “severe mental illness.” Further, the prosecution did not disclose the witness’s mental state to Warren’s defense attorney.
Warren walked out of the Wyandotte County Jail just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday. His legal team released the following statement:
