KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A 15-year-old died after being shot while at a birthday party, according to his family.

Police identified Tacobe Kindred as the person shot and killed near E. 33rd and Bales Sunday evening. Officers responded to a shooting at a house there around 5:15 p.m.

Police found Kindred inside the house with a gunshot injury. Emergency crews tried to save his life, but officer said he died of his injuries at a hospital.

Investigators believe there was an argument at the birthday party that led to the shooting.

“Earlier, there were a lot of people crying on the block,” said KD Sgt. Phil DiMartino. “There were a lot of people out. People were really upset by what happened. They’re frustrated; understandably so.”

Kindred’s mother told KCTV Monday morning that her son was visiting the house at the time of the shooting and did not live there.

She said she knows there were people at the house who witnessed what happened. She asks anyone who knows what happened to report it to police.

Kansas City police asks anyone with information about the shooting to call police or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. There is a $25,000 reward for information provided through the TIPS Hotline that leads to an arrest in the case.
