Northland investigators bust suspected shoplifters in Liberty holiday crackdown
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An effort to make a popular shopping area in Liberty safer is seeing results.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Liberty Police Department announced the arrests of four shoplifting suspects. The suspects were arrested during stings on Dec. 9 and Dec. 13. The enforcement focused on the shopping area along Route 152 in Liberty.
Three of four people arrested are also charged.
- Yolanda K. Tinsley, 54, of Kansas City, Mo. is charged with resisting arrest and misdemeanor stealing. She is accused of shoplifting $634.81 worth of items from Feldman’s Farm and Home, including Carhart coats and accessories
- Sylvester O. Smith, 58, of Columbia, Mo. is charged with misdemeanor stealing. Officers accuse him of stealing from Feldman’s Farm and Home.
- Joe W. Wright, 51, of Kansas City, Mo. is charged with misdemeanor stealing. He is also accused of stealing from Feldman’s Farm and Home.
Officers also arrested a 22-year-old woman from Kansas City, Mo., during the sting. She is accused of stealing $243.60 worth of items from Hobby Lobby, Target, and TJ Maxx. Charges have not yet been filed in her case.

During the operation, officers located a stolen vehicle. They ed the owner who reclaimed her car.
These arrests are in addition to ‘Operation No, No, No' through the Liberty Police Department.
The plan was to step up patrols in an effort to deter theft. The police chief said when crimes do happen the extra patrols mean there would be officers available to respond quickly.

Liberty police announced Dec. 5, officers busted a shoplifting ring and recovered stolen merchandise and drugs.
