KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Union Station’s Holiday Refection and Disney 100 Exhibit closes up shop on Jan. 5.

“It’s kind of your last chance; we don’t have Holidays or Disney for much longer,” said Jon Dudrey with Union Station. “So, if you haven’t seen them, this is definitely the time to come down and experience both of those.”

The Disney Exhibit takes you through the first 100 years of the company with some local touches. Holiday Reflections is all about Kansas City traditions.

Both exhibits open at 10 a.m., KCTV5 was there, and the lines went through the lobby. It filtered through quickly, getting everyone in and out in a timely manner.

The Heapes family has been coming to Union Station after Christmas for decades and wanted to that on to their littlest grandchildren.

“I grew up here, so this is something that I’ve done for 60 years,” said Debby Heapes. “It’s something that I just like to share with them, all the traditions of Kansas City, and this is just an iconic place.”

Others, like the Braden family, told KCTV5 they want to return after their experience.

“We just wanted to get out from being inside the house and just come down to Science City and Union Station and just enjoy time with the kids,” said Eric Braden from Olathe.

Science City is open year-round. There is also a special event for kids on New Year’s Eve from noon to 6:30 p.m. Families are encouraged to wear their pajamas, take pictures and watch balloons drop from the ceiling.

Families can also check out the KC Wheel or ice skating at Crown Center this holiday weekend.
