Winter reading challenge open to book lovers of all ages

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Mid-Continent Public Library is kicking off their winter reading program on Thursday, January 2.

Participants are challenged to read five books in two months. Those who successfully complete the challenge will earn a prize. Adults will receive a commemorative coffee mug, and kids will receive a color-changing cup.

The purpose of the program is to encourage readers to reconnect with the practice of leisure reading. The theme for the 2025 challenge is “Works of Art,” celebrating literature as an art form.
