OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - More than a dozen chickens are safe after a fire in the southern part of Overland Park demolished their coop.

The Overland Park Fire Department says that on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 8, emergency crews were called to an area in the southern part of the city with reports of a chicken coop on fire.

When first responders arrived, they said all 18 chickens were already safely outside the coop, however, the blaze destroyed the structure.

Investigators noted that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
