KCK firetruck stuck in snow adds challenge as firefighters battle barn fire

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Firefighters ended up facing extra work as they responded to a fire Wednesday morning.

One of the firetrucks got stuck in the snow while trying to reach a burning barn near S. 82nd Street and Speaker Road. Additionally, three horses died in the barn fire.

The department responded to the fire around 10:15 a.m. By the time they arrived, black smoke could be seen from more than a mile away at Interstate 70 and 78th Street.

The barn’s roof collapsed. Because of the possibility that the barn will collapse firefighters are fighting the flames from the outside. Animal control is also responding to help with the animals.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
