KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Six Wayside Waifs employees slept at the shelter to take care of the animals during the historic winter storm.

The staff slept on cots throughout the shelter to ensure the dogs and cats were taken care of amidst the grueling weather. They spent the night on January 4 and 5 making sure each animal was fed and kennel was cleaned.

“It’s important work and needs to be done,” said a staff member. “Knowing that the kitties were blissfully unaware of the blizzard because they got the same care as they would any other time is a real sweet thing.”
