Raiders, Jets eye Kansas City Chiefs coaches to fill head coaching vacancies

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Two Kansas City Chiefs coaches are on the short list for NFL head coaching jobs.

The New York Jets said they completed an interview with Chiefs Offensive Coach Matt Nagy for the team’s head coach position.

Nagy ed the Chiefs in 2013, as the quarterbacks coach. The Chicago Bears hired him as its head coach in 2018. When the Bears fired Nagy in 2022, he returned to the Chiefs as offensive coordinator.

The Jets also requested an interview with Spagnuolo for their head coaching vacancy, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports The Las Vegas Raiders have requested to speak with Chiefs Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

Spags coached with Andy Reid and the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999 to 2006, before the New York Giants hired him as their defensive coordinator in 2007.

He spent two years in New York, and won a Super Bowl with the Giants. The St. Louis Rams hired Spagnuolo as head coach in 2009. The Rams fired him at the end of the 2011 season.

He then bounced around to the Saints, Ravens and Giants before the Kansas City Chiefs hired him as defensive coordinator for the Chiefs.
