KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A local couple donated over a million dollars to HappyBottoms, a nonprofit diaper bank.

Peter and Veronica Mallouk gave the largest individual donation in the organization’s history.

“HappyBottoms was so easy for Veronica and me to select as a cause for our family to ,” said Peter Mallouk, donor, president and CEO of Creative Planning. “Providing diapers to kids that cannot otherwise get them is a basic necessity, and we are proud to the work HappyBottoms is doing.”

Diapers are not covered by food stamps, WIC or Medicaid. One in every two families struggles to afford diapers in greater Kansas City, according to HappyBottoms.

“Veronica and I are centered around giving to children, because what we’re really looking for is a ripple effect,” said Mallouk. “By donating to HappyBottoms we’re able to put a child in a better situation immediately, so the family can focus on other areas to improve their quality of life.”
