College water polo coach killed in crash with semitruck on interstate, police say
ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4/Gray News) - The head water polo coach at a private university in Missouri was killed in a crash involving a jackknifed semitruck Wednesday morning.
The Missouri Department of Transportation reported the two-vehicle crash at around 6 a.m. on Interstate 44 near Vandeventer Avenue.
A 34-year-old woman died at the hospital following the crash.
The victim was later identified as Colleen Lischwe, the men’s and women’s water polo head coach at McKendree University in St. Clair County.

According to St. Louis police, the semitruck hit the back of the car, pushing it off the interstate and onto Vandeventer Avenue.
The semitruck driver told police he was looking down to get a drink in that moment. When he looked back up, the Lischwe’s Prius was there.
It is not known whether the car was stopped or driving down the interstate at the time of the crash.
Police said they did a blood draw from the semitruck driver.
No other information has been released.
